Do I need my own instrument?
While there are instruments at the academy that will be made available to you, it is important that you are able to practise regularly at home. So, yes, we recommend you invest in an instrument. If you need help finding one that suits your budget, drop us a line – we’d be happy to assist you.
How often should I attend classes?
It is recommended that you attend one class a week.
How often should I be practising?
Much of the learning process takes place between lessons. We recommend you try to allocate at least 30 minutes a day to practising your instrument. Regular practice allows you to get much more out of your weekly lessons, as you will have spent some time coming to grips with any new concepts and techniques introduced in the previous lesson.
The cost of a lesson depends on the teacher and the length of the class. Once you have decided on your instrument and time slot, you will be required to pay for a full month of lessons prior to or on the day of your first lesson of the month:
- Private lessons from R200 per class
- Group lessons from R120 per class
- Solo rehearsal R80 per hour
- Band rehearsal R130 per hour (plus an additional R30 for use of the baby grand piano)
- Teaching rooms R80 per hour
